RYA Coastal  Skipper Practical Course

Description: This course is an ideal bridge between Day Skipper and the full RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal skipper course. It is an advanced skippering course for yachtsmen and women who have considerable knowledge of and experience in sailing and navigation. This course is designed to give an experienced Day Skipper the confidence to undertake longer and more complex passages which may involve sailing at night or involve watch keeping systems. During the course you will skipper passages in a whole variety of situations and enjoy an intense and satisfying week.

Suggested minimum pre-course experience: 15 days at sea, 2 days as skipper, 300 miles, 8 night hours. A knowledge of naviation to RYA Yachtmaster Coastal/ Offshore theory level.

Recommended pre-course knowledge: Knowledge of advanced offshore & coastal seamanship, navigation, pilotage and meteorology.

Course contents: Coastal- and offshore skippering techniques. Undertaking demanding passages by day and by night. More advanced boat handling and pilotage for experienced Day Skippers.
